What are the Livelihood Assistance Services under Assist WELL?

1. Entrepreneurial Development Training.

The OWWA and the NRCO provide free training on financial awareness, self-preparation for entrepreneurial roles, business planning, and business management. The training duration may be from one day to three days.

2. Livelihood Skills Training with Starter Kits.

Includes knowledge and skills development for self-employment. The training is from one day to three days, depending on the skill type that the beneficiary will acquire. This assistance has four categories:

• Balik Pinas, Balik-Hanapbuhay. A non-cash livelihood support/ assistance to provide immediate relief to returning active or inactive OWWA member-OFWs displaced from their jobs due to war/political conflict in host countries, or policy reforms, controls, and changes by host governments; or were victims of illegal recruitment and /or human trafficking, or other distressful situations. They must have decided to return to the Philippines for good.
• Livelihood Development Assistance Program. An NRCO livelihood grant consisting of training cum-production (business starter kit consisting of tools, jigs, and raw materials) to bring about improved socio-economic well-being of undocumented OFWs.
• BalikPinay, BalikHanapbuhay. An NRCO livelihood grant intervention which consists of skills training and provision of starter kits based on project proposal of distressed women OFW.
• DOLE Kabuhayan Program. A livelihood and entrepreneurial intervention for workers in the informal economy and vulnerable worker groups, such as parents of child laborers, women, youth, persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, among others.

3. Hands-on Business Mentoring and Support.

Free business development services in the form of business consultation and counselling, productivity advice, and business networking support for sustaining and expanding businesses.

4. Business Loan Assistance.

A P2-Billion Reintegration Program Fund administered by the Landbank of the Philippines for business loans of between P300,000 and P2 million, payable in five years, with interest of 7.5 percent per year. Services include referral services to partner lending institutions.
